About Us – Our Vision
Side By Side was created in 2002 with the vision to provide individualized supports for persons with developmental disabilities.
“We wanted to provide support that was personalized based upon an individual’s needs, choices and desires” says Owner and President Laura Weisenborn.
Today, Side By Side continues to adhere to that vision and is best known for our willingness to take on a challenge and our family atmosphere. Laura says, “Our staff is compassionate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We’re proud of our reputation for providing some of the best services in the Kansas City Metro area, including several surrounding counties.”

Side By Side is dedicated to providing caring and compassionate support to children and adults with developmental disabilities. Our staff works together as a team to ensure our clients receive the highest level of personalized care and support.
Entrusting the care of your loved one to others is a big deal. That’s why our team is compassionate, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable – we want to create a family atmosphere for your loved one.
Medications and health status are monitored by a skilled Community RN. They visit each of our individuals monthly for a physical assessment, and to monitor medications and medical appointments.

What services do you provide?
We provide Residential Services and Independent Supported Living Services to individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages. We will assist in finding your loved one a home and will provide the support needed so that they may live their lives the way they wish, with the supports they need to do so.
Where do you provide services?
We provide services to the indivuduals in their homes located in Lee’s Summit, MO and surrounding communities. We strive to provide a family atmosphere. Typically, they live in an Individualized Supportive Living (ISL) or group home. We are not a centralized facility.
Can you provide 24 hour care?
YES! Services and Supports may range from a few hours per week to 24/7 support. We have a client-to-staff ratio that varies from 1:1 and no more than 1:4, depending upon the needs of our individuals. They are staffed around the clock, 365 days a year.
How can I get services through Side by Side?
The first step is to determine if your loved one qualifies for services. To do so, contact the Kansas City Regional Office at 816-889-3400 and ask for “Intake.” They will assist you in the initial process of determining qualification.
If your loved one qualifies for services and supports, the individual will be assigned a Support Coordinator to assist in developing an Individual Support Plan and will guide you in obtaining the appropriate services and supports.
The individual and/or the guardian and family will be provided a list of appropriate providers.
